AT LAST
I must admit, I did not think that this day would ever arrive; however, both USDA and the architectural firm, Lord Aeck & Sargent, Inc. have finally signed off on the proposed project to restore the building, located at 24 South Oliver Street, in Elberton, Georgia! I realize that a grant for 99,999.00 will only do so much; but, Jim -Ree Museum is now closer than ever to being a reality and not just a possibility.

2014 Spring JAAM Festival
Spring JAAM Festival 2014 had a crowd pleasing line up of talent. I would like to thank all of the performers who volunteered to help make the festival successful, sharing their time and talents with us. I would also like to thank all of the volunteers who helped the museum to make the festival successful.
Lexie Partain's voice is a power instrument, that rang out with pleasing clarity. Trinity, an all girl group, sang with sweet purity, making me think that I knew what real angels must sound like. The praise dancers from White's Chapel CME church were wholesome with a dynamic flare. T and T duo harmonized with such golden accord that they brought tears to my eyes. Tyaira Allen of T and T weathered her battle with seasonal allergies to perform at the festival. Tera Reed belted out one of my favorite songs, His Eye is on the Sparrow.
White Funeral, a heavy metal christian band, gifted us with a concert. I loved the sounds coming from those guitars. Lara Smith, a gifted vocalist from Nashville, Tennessee, endowed us with a concert as well. Lara and her band's performance was outstanding. As Lara sang, all I could think was give me more! (Lara's concert ended right before the downpour.)
I hope that all of the groups will perform at future JAAM Festivals.
Two clubs from Elbert County Comprehensive High School volunteered to help with the run / walk, to assist with the set up of the festival, to do face painting, and to make twisty shapes with balloons. The groups from the high school were the Interact Club under the leadership of Mrs. Julie Hover and Mr. Bret Norman and the JPN Club under the leadership of Mrs. Jackie Bosby and Mrs. Aurolyn White. Without the clubs' help, the 2014 Spring JAAM Festival would not have been as successful.
There were many individuals who volunteered as well. In fear of leaving someone off, I will not attempt to list names. The museum membership appreciates all of your hard work. Last, but not least, without the help from the City of Elberton and Elbert County, this event would not have been possible.
